The Pete and Jameer Nelson Foundation hosted its 3rd Annual Jameer Nelson Summer Basketball Academy at Neumann University on July 16th -19th. The basketball academy was open to student-athletes between the 3rd-8th grade wishing to improve their game. This year’s basketball academy consisted of over 100 participants from the Chester, Wilmington and Delaware County. Over the four day event, Jameer and a staff of collegiate players, coaches and staff focused on promoting leadership, unity, and teamwork.
During the week, Jameer mentored the participants on the court and by hosting an interactive Q&A session. Jameer spoke on the importance of education and how basketball can serve as a platform for future life challenges. In addition, Jameer discussed many of his life’s decisions and the importance of hard work on and off the court. As a foundation, it is our mission to “promote excellence in all areas of life” and our vision to “assist in building confident and educated young student-athletes”. Over the week, coaches worked with campers on enhancing their skills as players but developing them as future leaders on and off the court.
The 3rd Annual Jameer Nelson Summer Basketball Academy included fun activities such as 3 on 3 and 5 on 5 tournaments, knockout contests, strength and conditioning workouts and plenty of competitions. In addition, coaches facilitated on-court drills, video analysis and hours of instruction. The instruction ranged from basic fundamentals for beginners to guided practice and advanced drills to elevate their game for more advanced players. The Pete and Jameer Nelson Foundation provided participants with a state of the art experience. The foundation is excited to host next year’s 4th annual Jameer Nelson Basketball Academy. We’re very grateful and thankful for all your organization did with our youth!!!! A full week of camp for the children with lunch included was a beautiful blessed opportunity!!! Had the children up early and very busy all day with your counselors. Early to bed and ready to start early the next day!!! We’re grateful to have been a part for our 2nd year and looking forward to other events in the future! Thank you very much again Ryan for reaching out and making sure everyone was notified!
